To view your Gmail, log in to your account at mail.google.com or open the Gmail app on your mobile device. Your inbox displays by default, showing the most recent emails at the top.
On a computer, go to mail.google.com in your web browser. Enter your Google account email and password when prompted. After logging in, you'll see your inbox with a list of emails. Unread messages appear in bold, and important ones may have labels like "Promotions" or "Social."
Open the Gmail app on your phone or tablet. If you're not already logged in, enter your Google account credentials. The app automatically opens to your inbox. Swipe down to refresh if new emails don't appear immediately. Tap any message to open it.
The Gmail interface includes several key areas:
On desktop, you can use keyboard shortcuts to go through Gmail faster. For example, press "g" then "i" to jump to your inbox from anywhere. Press "?" to see a full list of shortcuts. I use "e" to archive messages and "r" to reply-these save me several seconds per email.
If you can't log in, check that you're using the correct email address and password. Google may also ask for additional verification, like a code sent to your phone. If you've forgotten your password, use Google's account recovery tools.
